Japanese long-life design shop "D&Department"

Mr. Ken-mei Nagaoka is one of my most respect person.

When I knew his idea of long-life design and what his company actually doing as project, I was so much thrilled.

"Let's have another look at discontinued Japanese old products. Creative is not only keep creating new thing and throw away old thing. "

They started recycling 1960's good product design in Japan as project.

"KARIMOKU 60" is one of their representative work.
Karimoku is one of the old established furniture company in Japan.

D&Department project restored Karimoku's discontinued design as long-life design as "Karimoku 60".
And now, "Karimoku 60" brand won young people's big sympathy and became big hit.

D&Department” is their flag shop.
Furniture, kitchen ware, bag, close, CDs, Books... Used or new doesn't matter. It's a selected "Department store" of long-life design product.

There is Cafe at 1F as well.

Shop's building is also showing their reuse policy.
They intentionally picked up old building blend with the surroundings, and basically using as it is.

I really love this recycling idea and admire D&Department's works.

If you are interested in real Japanese life style, this flag shop is worth to visit.
